Australia’s endangered eastern quolls are showing signs of recovery after conservationists successfully bred captive-raised animals in Tasmania. One released female has six joeys in her pouch, offering hope for the species’ future. Eastern quolls disappeared from mainland Australia by the 1960s, largely due to habitat loss, disease, road accidents and predation.
