A conservation project at Dunstable's Priory House has revealed eight centuries of hidden history. Nationally important wall paintings and sealed medieval doorways were discovered during the extensive restoration. Scientific tests confirm the building's early 13th-century origins as part of Dunstable Priory. Protective symbols, known as witch marks, were carved into old timber and stonework. The building is expected to reopen as a community heritage hub in early 2027.
