Belarus has begun forming a new airborne assault brigade in the southern Gomel region, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) from the Ukrainian border. SOF Commander Alexander Ilyukevich announced that the 37th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade is actively recruiting, with one battalion already established and additional artillery and support units currently being formed. The new brigade adds to Belarus’s three existing airborne units.
