Inspired by a gram sabha meeting, M Velmurugan founded a civic association in Vellur, Tamil Nadu, to address pressing local challenges like water supply, burial ground amenities, and pollution control. The group actively works with government representatives to demand accountability and prompt resolutions. Their initiatives also feature educational programs for students about hygiene and environmental conservation through tree planting, establishing a positive influence on the village.
