On March 6, 2023, 13-year-old Alex Munroe of Windsor Junction, Nova Scotia, punched an attacking adult German shepherd repeatedly to free his eight-year-old brother and his mother. Stepping out of the house, he saw his mother, Trisha Munroe, struggling to pull his younger brother from the dog's grip, so he went into the street and fought it off with his fists.
