In these extremely divisive times, like many, I’m searching for ways to be inclusive and accepting, especially of those I disagree with. One thing I have in common with our current Republican Senator is that we are both the descendants of Irish immigrants.

I live away, due to earning a living away; but, we’ve had the Pascal Ave house for 50-plus years and I go back many many generations in Rockport. So, while I live away, I was a resident until I married.

The people of Union, Hope, and Warren are so lucky that Shawn Saindon has stepped up to run to represent us in the State House in Augusta. He speaks with conviction about the needs of our communities – affordable housing, lower energy costs, tax relief, access to healthcare.

Chip Curry is running for reelection to the State Senate in District 11. I strongly encourage voters to return him for another term. I got to know Chip when I volunteered to drive him as he canvassed in Waldo County. I had the opportunity to speak with him one on one, to hear some of his exchanges with voters. I was struck by how carefully he listens. His caring commitment to the people of Maine, and his sincere desire to understand our concerns and hopes for Maine’s future made a deep...

I support Chip Curry’s reelection for Senate District 11 representing Waldo County. Most fundamentally: he’s a good guy who takes the job seriously. When I’ve written to him in years past about bills that matter to me, I have received warm, personal and timely responses. He has good tenure in Augusta and understands how the legislative process […]

On Oct. 17, the national No Kings mobilization focused on early voting (where allowed), and guarding against election interference. As you likely know, early voting is available in Maine now. Vote in person at your town office during business hours until October 29, and after that, vote in person on November 3 at your polling place. Voting absentee? Make sure your ballot is returned by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, election day.

Maine is a bastion of independent thinkers and doers. Always has been, always will be. Yet during this election cycle there is a Star Wars cantina of billionaire megadonors, Fortune 500 CEOs and corporate dark money bundlers pumping cash into Susan Collins’ campaign coffers. 93% of Susan Collins’ campaign contributions come from outside Maine. Those “donors” arrogantly believe they can tell Mainers what to think and how to vote — they and Susan Collins insult Mainers’ intelligence.

I am writing in support of Breanna Pinkham Bebb as County Commissioner for District 1, which includes Belfast, Belmont, Islesboro, Lincolnville, Northport, and Waldo. She was appointed in February to serve out the late Betty Johnson’s term so she is already up to speed and working well with the other commissioners.

Chip Curry has been so good for Waldo County and Maine. I am excited to vote for his re-election this coming November! In his time representing us in Augusta Chip has focused on the issues that affect Waldo County. Chip wrote the bill that finally got the fencing on the Verona Island Bridge after 19 years and multiple failed attempts. Chip got results.

My name is Josh Gerritsen and I’m running to represent Camden and Rockport in the State House. I moved to Camden when I was six years old and I’m proud to have attended our public schools, from first grade through high school. I left for ten years, but I came back to start a farm and serve our community.

In 2019 the residents of Rockport voted against the arbitrary and capricious attempt by the Select Board to regulate short-term rentals. The margin of victory for those voting against the arbitrary and capricious potential regulations was not a close race by any means. Some might say it was a landslide victory against allowing the town to exercise regulations based on what this writer viewed as the personal agendas of a few Select Board members.

Today, we’re sharing answers from the candidates for the U.S. House for Maine’s 1st Congressional District, Rep. Chellie Pingree, a Democrat, and businessman Ron Russell, a Republican.

As voters decide for whom to vote this year, they must ask themselves crucial questions: What impact have Trump and the Republicans made on Maine and America since 2024? Are grocery prices lower? How about healthcare or gas? Are Americans as proud of their country as they were two years ago? Is this really the version of America that Mainers and other Americans want to live in? Here […]
