Ukraine's 2024 Kursk operation disrupted Russia's offensive plans, forced Moscow to redeploy approximately 70,000 troops, and gave Ukrainian units an opportunity to recover their combat effectiveness. Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi believes that sending the forces involved in the operation to defend the Pokrovsk sector would not have significantly changed the situation, as Russia had concentrated a force of nearly 100,000 troops there.
