Russia’s senior military leadership has used computer simulations to rehearse hypothetical wars with NATO and its partners since at least 2017, according to a Dossier Center investigation. The exercises involved scenarios around Sweden’s Gotland island, Japan and US forces. Before invading Ukraine, Russian commanders held such games monthly, but investigators say the simulations failed to anticipate Moscow’s battlefield problems.
